Abstract

The role of the media in disseminating information on climate change is important, because they create public opinion that can lead to policy changes when it comes to this topic. The research results show that journalism students in the south of Serbia take climate change seriously and are most often informed about it through online media and web portals of major news organizations. However, students believe that the media do not report enough on climate change, and they themselves do not produce such content. However, they believe that their study program provides adequate knowledge about climate change, but they also want to gain more knowledge and skills required to report on climate change, which creates the opportunity to improve the journalism study program. Educating journalism students about climate change is especially important because they will shape public opinion on this topic that will be increasingly relevant and significant in the future.
